Kathy Loor – BA, Clinical Intern

​

Kathy is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Counseling at Northwestern University, graduating in 2022. She has 5 years of clinical experience with a background in foster care and crisis intervention. Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University. Her background in social services and psychology provides her with valuable knowledge and experience, strengthening her therapeutic practice.

 

Kathy is also fluent in Spanish, offering her the opportunity to reach a larger range of people. She is excited to be interning at Living Pono Counseling, having the privilege to work with a variety of people with diverse and unique backgrounds.

Her focus is on the client’s needs and therapeutic journey. Kathy believes in the importance of the therapeutic alliance with clients. Creating and providing a brave environment, in which clients can explore their thoughts and emotions comfortably. Highlighting the healing and growth of the client, while acknowledging their resilience and strength.

 

Kathy is invested in creating more inclusive and integrative spaces. With a multicultural lens, she will take on a holistic approach to mental health. Identifying all aspects of a person’s life and how they impact their well-being. She is passionate about working with the underserved and their needs, with a special interest in the Hispanic/ Latin community and generational traumas.
