Raquel VanLoon is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in counseling psychology with a concentration in addictions. Raquel received her Master’s degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Raquel also completed the University of Michigan’s sexual health track in April 2022 and specializes in working with sexuality, intimacy, and the cultivation of healthy communication in relationships. She is a professional member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

 

Raquel is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and has experience working in 28-day residential settings, halfway houses, and crisis-level inpatient settings. Raquel specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, however, she enjoys approaching therapy from an integrated and culturally sensitive approach. Raquel has a passion for working with individuals and couples who are feeling overwhelmed with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress management, life transitions, trauma, substance use/abuse, building coping skills, body image, lifestyle balance, relationship and sexual intimacy difficulties, and grief/loss.

 

Raquel’s hope is to best support you in maintaining positive changes in your life. Raquel is passionate about helping others and providing a safe space to process thoughts, feelings, and emotions related to your lived experience. Raquel is a firm believer that every aspect of human existence impacts another, and the connection is highly essential.
