Cody Hawks

Intern

Hi there, I’m Cody

I am a graduate student in the counseling program at Concordia University Chicago, working towards completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am excited to begin working with Living Pono and develop myself as a professional counselor. I am passionate about helping others, from all ages and backgrounds navigate through the absurdity of life and become the versions of themselves they aspire to be.

The first priority I have in the counseling relationship is to create a safe environment where you feel safe, seen, heard and empowered. I aim to help individuals achieve greater function and well-being in their personal lives, relationships, and professionally through the Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy frameworks. I often use humor as a way to strengthen my relationships with clients and help bring awareness to when we get a little too lost in our heads.

I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. In my free time, I like hyperfocusing on my nerdy interests which include music, video games, laser cutting, spending time in nature, trading cards, and reading.

THE LIVING PONO APPROACH

in life, Pono stands for righteousness and balance

In Hawaiian, if a person is living Pono, it means that they have struck the right balance within themselves, with other things, places, and the people in their lives.

We take that same approach when helping you to grow.
