Jimmy Nixon

Intern

Hi there, I’m Jimmy

I am a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a
specialization in First Responder Mental Health at Bradley University. With over 20 years of
experience as a Firefighter, I bring a unique perspective that combines frontline emergency
service with clinical training in trauma-informed care and resilience optimization.

My clinical focus areas include first responder mental health, trauma recovery, resilience
building and stress management. While I have specialized training working with first responders,
I am passionate about helping all adults navigate life transitions, overcome obstacles, and work
toward their mental health goals.

My mission is to provide evidence-based, person-centered counseling that meets clients exactly
where they are in their journey. I draw from multiple theoretical approaches including Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and trauma informed modalities, tailoring interventions
to each clients unique needs and circumstances. My approach emphasizes collaboration,
helping clients create actionable pathways toward improved mental health and personal growth.

THE LIVING PONO APPROACH

in life, Pono stands for righteousness and balance

In Hawaiian, if a person is living Pono, it means that they have struck the right balance within themselves, with other things, places, and the people in their lives.

We take that same approach when helping you to grow.
